Hi,
C28 phono and output potentiometers are bad I tried to clean but.....
I placed order the new potentiometers. Mcintosh still have the part R15,16, 201, 202.
I tried to remove control knobs but I can't
ANYBODY CAN HELP>>>>>>>>>>>

I tried unscrew with hex key 1.5 and 2 mm but it doesn't fit the size 1.5 is small and 2 is too big. I took a look in side of hole side of knob it doesn't look is hex type.
Do you have any ideas what kind of drive or tool to use take out the knobs from potentiometer.

Designed in the late 60s, built throughout the 70s in New York, you will need SAE hex keys to fit McIntosh products......3/32nds but I will need to check my set to be sure.

Do not use metric keys
Use US type
 
Hogging the screw socket holes and or splitting them and making it all but impossible to remove can happen with the wrong size or style of wrench, so beware and be careful.
