Just picked up a used 6502 Turntable not working. I brought it home and the belt is completely missing. Anyone know where I can get a replacement?? Also anyone know how the counter weight works on it?? Looks like it's locked in place. Not sure how it works with the bias adjustment. Looks to have an Audio Technica cartridge on it with a good needle on it..

Thanks in advance...

Loosen the set screw and the weight can be moved... The 6502 was not the best from MCS I hate to say. It was the Model made by panisonic to replce the prior 6500 which was made by Hitachi...and was actually a better table than the 6502.

The headshell is FIXED and cannot be removed so play extra carfull with it when changing carts. If the counterweight is set now, it is probobly set for your cart so there is no need to move it. Also, once you install the belt, if you find that the speed is not stable or can see flutter by way of the strobscope (the light that shines on the platter) you will need to shoot some DeOxit in the speed pots to celan them. As this is a Panaosic unit, it uses the famous FG Servo Control and is prone to bad speed pots and IC chips.

Enjoy

I actually have one of these and it's not that bad, especially after cleaning the speed pot. As for adjusting the weight there should be 3 notches on the tonearm, I've always assumed the one farthest from the cart is 1g, the one closest is 3g, just slide the weight in and out and tighten the screw at the desired weight. The cartridge is most likely an audio technica 12e. The 12e has a blue stylus assembly and can be converted to a 12s by purchasing the 12s shibata stylus. It's a pretty good cart

Reputable and fast shipping.

I would not recommend turntablebasics.com unless you have no alternative. Their shipping times are erratic.

sorry, I meant vintage electronics...jumped too quickly :-)

I bought an MCS belt from them, worked perfectly!

Just ordered the belt. Luckily I only paid $10 for the turntable with a very nice dustcover that still stays up and a nice needle on it... Hopefully once the belt is on it will work great.... I see the motor spinning when I lift the tonearm up...

Also Steve at Turntableneedles.com and he has free shipping on small parts like this :)

Make sure you clean the running surface for the belt. Mine came kinda gooey and rough on the platter side.
