MCS fans

Thanks Joey, I have not given my mcs 6700 much playing time, due to lab 400, and sansui 535. I will in the future. Is there a vintage web sit for mcs stuff. I have some mcs speakers 8320 and 3249 receiver (i believe i loan it to a friend) that i feel are nice quality units.
 
Ya know, there is not a web-site dedicated to MCS gear that I'm aware of. As it was an in-house brand, it was everywhere, and then it was gone. A lot like Quadraflex. MCS had some GREAT stuff (re-badged Hitachi, Technics, and JVC) but hey are now but a timespace in history. Not a lot of followers like with Sansui or Pioneer.

Maybe someone should start an MCS Page???

My parents bought this one for me for Christmas one year. I had originally wanted a Pioneer PL112d but they thought I'd like this one better.

I had tried Ortofon, Acutex, Azden, various Shures and Audio Technicas with this MCS table and never could get distortion free sound.

I hated this table and replaced it with a Yamaha tt 300 which sounded drastically better if you can believe that. I could actually hear tape hiss on vinyl with the Yammy that I never heard with the MCS.
 
I saw a MCS 3125 at an Estate Sale about a year ago. I knew it was a Pennys house brand but didn`t know anything else about it. They wanted $25. I checked it out and one channel was real weak. I didn`t buy it. When I got home I posted on AK about seeing it. I told was a little about it and that the weak channel probably needed cleaning. I was told I should have bought it. Well, I went back to the Estate Sale the next day{Sunday} and it was still there. Price had been reduced to $18. I bought it and the AK`ers were right it was just dirty controls. I was and still am amazed at the sound and power of this receiver. I can`t remark on other MCS products but the MCS 3125 is an outstanding preformer.

I would also like to see a web-site dedicated to MCS gear. But like someone said "it was everywhere then it was gone". It may be a hard web-site to make.

Did you align the cartridge geometry with an alignment tool?

Absolutely. I even tried a different headshell. It came with a flimsy plastic one so bought an aluminum Acutex shell. No different.

That table had a lot of trouble with "pinching" distortion. Maybe the tonearm had something wrong with it.

As far as appartent build quality, the MCS was far better made than the Yamaha.
 
ok all you MCS fans...got a 3125 that I am selling....no blemishes a 10.0 easy...if anyone knows of someone wanting one of these please tell them...don't want to part with it but oh the foolish things we do to keep peace...also have some pioneer and concept....this is really a beautiful machine and perfect....any texas people in or around dallas can see it in person....my cell 214-755-1839...alan jackson

That's funny... I saw this MCS 6500 you got for sale at OAKTREE ENTERPRISES website. It was about $350.00 or so as it was fully serviced out! I had this very deck (in the late 70's) and had GREAT results with SHURE and ORTO carts. Has the better Hitachi arm than later MCS decks.

You have to remember that these are all very, very OLD record decks. To get the performance today that they offord to those of us that were alive in the late 70's, they would have to be fully restored with new tonearm cable, interconnects, and on and on. I passed on this one because all OAKTREE had done was polish it and replace the stylus. WHOOPY!

Need Schematcs for MCS 3265

Hi folks!

I have a MCS 3265 Digital Synthesized Receiver. I've been trying to find schematics on the power supply and power distribution. Specifically the +|- 5 volt power distribution. I have a cold solder joint somewhere and i need a schematics to help me find the problem. Sams doesn't have a schematic on my receiver! "shock and horror!!!." I have a great of trouble believing that Sams doesn't have photo-facts on a MCS 3265 and they do have photo-facts on my old 1942 Scott Labs 800 phantom radio.

So anyone out there have schematics on a MCS 3265 receiver? If you do can you email me?

A few weeks ago I picked up a 3872 integrated off of freecycle. I wasn't even gonna take it at first as free to this guy meant $10. Very 80's looking built in 5 band eq,slider controls funky light up display for all the functions. But I noticed the power meters went up to 150 wpc and it had massive heat sinks pretty heavy too for its size.

I'm very impressed with this thing puts out 110 wpc and sounds great. I'm using it hooked up to my computer. not the prettiest thing to look kind of sleeper imo. As a bonus it also came with a Mcs 3050 digital tuner and a Sony cdp 505 changer.
 
I use the MCS 6500 TT in my current set up with a Stanton 727E cartridge(if I remember the model number correctly)and I really like it. Sounds great and has been problem free.

I just got an MCS 3230 for 415 at a thrift store. The light for the FM mute is burned out and it needs a cleaning, but it seems to work well otherwise. Nice little receiver. Had the manual. Didn't say who made it, so I don't know what it is a rebadged version of, if any
 
lubricating mcs 6600 turntable

I have an MCS 6600(Hitachi HT350)direct drive turntable that was having erratic speed changes.I took the bottom of the base and used de-oxit on the speed control and strobe contacts.It seemed to do the trick.There's a lubrication cap on the motor, on removing the cap there is a spring loaded ball bearing that allows it to be lubricated .My question is what kind of lube and how much?Thans guys I'm a newbie on this site so be gentle!

Dude... Do you have the manual for the 6601? I have been looking all over for it. If so, do you have the knowledge/ability to scan it to a pdf?
