MCS Speaker users anywhere?

Carpo420

"it just wont turn on..."
I have searched high and low, but not a lot of info about MCS (modular component systems) speakers. I know the basics, but I picked up a pair of MCS 8320 Speaks at a thrift store for $20, and I love them. They are a little shy on the mid, but the clarity and the highs are great (to me) and the lows are not bad either. Is there anyone out there that knows who made the speakers for J.C. Penney? These are the speakers that led me to this forum in the first place....
And what about "Acoustic" brand. I've heard they are the white van speaks, but I got a pair from a garage sale, and they sound great. (Acoustic series 3311 is the label)

I eat my words, I found a thread that answered my question.......shoulda looked longer and deeper.
Thanks

Yes, Acoustic 3311 are white van speakers.
Same with Acoustic Studio Monitors
This list is very long.
The MCS aren't bad, though.

1: The problem with white van speakers is not neccessarily how they sound, but how much they cost. Generally they have inflated specs and wildly inflated MSRPs, and then are sold at lower, but still excessive prices. But many of them are not terrible, and if you find them at the dump or for a few bucks at a tag sale, who's to say they aren't worth it.
2: Any speaker whose sound you like is a good speaker. So don't be embarrassed about your tastes. But it is true that the speaker whose sound you continue to like over the years will probably be something with smooth even frequency response, good imaging, stout cabinetry for low resonances, and good drivers with reasonable power handling. The average white van speaker doesn't have all these virtues, and so will overstay its welcome.

All generally true - but there are some MCS speakers that were forward thinking designs, and they sound pretty good :) Are they as good as say mid level Infinity - probably not, but they generally serve a different market.
