Meguiars Plastx on black smoked dust cover?

I see Meguiars Plastx says it's a clear plastic cleaner polish.
Says on the rear label,not safe for coated plastics.
Can this product be used on a black smoked plastic dust cover?
The cover's in question would be on,
Marantz 6100
Tannoy Micro TM 44 DD

Black smoked is not coated, it's integral to the product so the polish doesn't know if it's smoked or clear.
There are numerous threads on dc polishing with many different ways to get there.
I use a random orbital polisher with different grits of polishing compound, provides great results for me. Others will wet sand with super fine sandpaper and do stellar as well.
Always practice on the one you like the least, until you get the hang of it.

I don't have an orbital polisher and I have tried the wet sanding on an old dust cover I have.
Did not get the results I was hoping for,I think I had a to heavy hand when sanding.
These covers are in nice shape with just minor scuffs or swirl marks.
I have used the Plastx on clear covers before and it did help their appearance,just wanted to ask more experienced before I try it on smoked covers.
It's probably best if I stick with a hand rub product until I learn more about more involved techniques.

We use Plastix at work for smoked lexan. I took some home for dust covers an find it useful as a last step. If the cover needs any real work done it’s better left to harsher abrasives. There’s tons of ways to accomplish it by hand or by machine. 1000 grit wet dry paper used soaking wet, followed by paint polish, then Mother’s Aluminum Polish and finish with Plastix is what I use, only reason is it was all available at home.

I look to the car detailer's forums for some of this stuff. I've got a ton of little plastic cassette players, if a good bath doesn't work sometimes I pull out something like Meguiar's Ultimate Black Plastic Polish. Always test in a small corner to make sure it doesn't fog the plastic.
