'Mend my CD player' threads

It struck me recently that there are many threads in the Digital sources sub-forum, about broken CD players, and how to fix them.

Now, whilst CD players are indeed Digital Sources (when working...), it strikes me that this sort of thread really belongs in the DIY sub-forum, which is much more about building and repair.

Unfortunately, the situation is muddled by threads in both sub-forums:

I'm going DIY, maybe with a 'Repair & Restoration' sub-forum. Might as well keep the board tiddy.

@cpt_paranoia raises a good point. I'm not really bothered by the presence of repair threads in the digital sources subforum, but I guess that's because they were already there prior to my involvement. I can see an argument for keeping it as is, but to better comport with the proper subforum categories, CD repair threads probably should've been in the DIY Repair subforum all along. Changing this, of course, will require a mod to go through and move many existing threads. I don't imagine that's a task anyone will be looking forward to.

To make the change stick would also require regular readers of the digital sources subforum to report mis-posted threads so they can be moved, at least until most users got the idea that such threads belong in DIY.

To be fair, Turntables, Tube Audio, Speakers, and Solid State are also full of repair threads.

I always thought DIY was for home made gear, rather than repair of commercial gear.

I always thought DIY was for those who wanted to repair components themselves and were seeking help. Also, Dr. Audio has a great thread on repairing CD players in the DIY forum, and has been a fantastic source of knowledge. He's the go to guy for novices.
I guess you go to the forum you feel you will get the most help from. Those seeking input on a specific model can always use the search function, assuming original posters put the brand/model in their title.
