Meridian 508 CD player - how good is it?

I'm looking at a Meridian 508 CD player that's been for sale for quite a while now in my area. Anyone know about this player?

It has the 2xx serial number which means it has the CDM 12.4 mechanism and the 19 bit DAC.

I'm wondering whether this player would be a significant upgrade from my Philips CD-60.
The guy wants $350 but I bet I could get it for $300.

Thoughts?

Been listening all afternoon. This is a huge upgrade. I like my Philips CD-60 but this is an entirely different league.

I think there was a 508.20, then a 508.24. There might be a sticker on back giving more info on this model you have. I'd say you got a very sweet deal.

It has a 2xxx serial.
Also this leaflet was in the manual. It says it's 20 bit.
