Micro-Acoustic Add on Tweeter - $60 (Andover)

These little gems were meant to add better high frequency to the old AR, Advant, and KLH speakers from the 60's and 70's. They do a great job, and really make those classic speakers sound even better. Of course, they can be used to increase high frequency response with any speaker system. Walnut cases and cream colored cloth. Each unit has 4 tweeters.

If they were any of a dozen other companies I would agree. But Micro Acoustics used to have all sorts of tweeter arrangements with the tweeters pointing in different directions, and I never heard of Micro Acoustics ever using electrostatics. So I'm inclined to believe these were MA's low cost alternative to the electrostatic arrangements of others. They do look nice, though.

Is anyone familiar with these? I know there are a few Micro Acoustic fans here! These were actually listed on CL last week, I was surprised to see them back on the list, as I thought for sure the would find a buyer. I know at least one local AK'er has MA's, that they bought at last years "Marlus-Fest". I would imagine that these are not seen that often, my guess is they were not a big seller.

No, not e'stats. They were the same tweeters used in their speaker system. When they were out, they were the final nail in the JansZen coffin for their e'stat addon array as they did almost as well for near nothing compared to the JansZens. They look like they were well kept and for $60 something worth adding to you inventory if you enjoy NE speakers, especially something like the 2-way KLHs that use the large cone mid/tweeter.

Anyone want to get them for me??? :music: :music: :music:

I have a few sets of stats, and would love to do an A/B comparison with these tweets. I have family in the Andover area, but they are on vacation until the 24th.
