Micro Seiki MB-14 33 rpm speed issue

Hi all

I've re-found my old MB.14 and had to replace the belt as the old had rotted away.
(AND aqcuire a pre-amp, but that irrelevant here and now.)
Everything is clean and tidy and works, but the speed control is weird and I can't figure out why...

Everything seems so damn simple and "mechanical" - the TT speed selector pushes the belt to ether top (33) og bottom (45) diameter spindle on motor.
That all works too.
Almost.

Because, if I play a single at 45, and then selects 33, the speed slows down alright, but not enough.
I have to slow down platter with my finger before it picks up and stays on 33.

Anyone able to explain why that is?

I can see the belt sits firmly when selected with TT buttons, on only the top diameter spindle or bottom, and also round the platter, where it quickly 'creeps up/down' (although *that* is the same diameter in both top/bottom - the belt just crawls up/down as it's supposed to.)

Welcome to AK. Are the speed controls cleaned and lubed? Is the belt the correct size? Just places to start. I have a BL-21. The newest belt I got is not correct as the speed is higher than it should be, so in my case, belt is the issue.

Yes, I'd say they are clean (not cleaned actually, just clean).
I've bought the belt from a repair shop, explaining which TT it is for, along with info on width,thickness of the old as well as various measurements in motor spindle/distance from platter center I believe.
I am not 100% sure how to verify, but belt seems 'firm' and as if it fits the goove on motor spindle just fine when I look at the "speed selector arm".

What will I use to lube with?

On the speed controls, us contact cleaner. Deoxit is some of the best to use.

I have used sewing machine oil with good results for lubing. Especially the motor.
