Micronta Dynamic Transistor Checker - Good?

Anyone have/use one of these, R.S. Micronta Dynamic Transistor Checker (22-024)? Are they any good? I am trying my hand at repairing an amp and testing the output transistors on the right channel. I tried it on the left channel output transistors as that channel is working and the tester appears to show them as good but I've never used this tester before and would like to know if it is any good or should I look for a better tester.

What you'll want - if you're going to use it more than just simple, basic "Good or Bad" testing is something like the Peak Atlas DCA55 or DCA75. These will give you lots of detailed and specific information about the component under test - Chris
 
These little testers are handy but they operate on a small battery. The outputs that you are testing will work on a much larger voltage and current then your tester can give. If you are trying your hand at repairing you should search the forums here for you amp. There is a lot of information here and a lot of guys that know their stuff and are quite willing to help you out.
I repair and refurbish vintage stereos as a hobby and I won't even power one on without first searching the forums here. You are in the right place here.
 
Thanks everyone for the replies. Will look into the Peak Atlas equipment. I've seen it referenced on the forum for LCR and ESR units too. I will be creating another post RE: the amp I am working on as there are a couple of things that have me stumped and a search of the forum hasn't turned up anything on an Onkyo M-502.
 
They can tell if a bipolar transistor has sufficient gain to oscillate, and a relative indication of gain. A bit more significant info than a simple diode check of the junctions provides.
