Microscope for checking stylus

I read the "Sticky" about the the DIY microscope. Good information there. I am looking for a used one as I have several vintage head shells with carts and some with stylus.
I found a Shure SEK-2 with the light and manual. ($130.00) is it worth this much or should I purchase a 100/300X microscope I found for $30.00. These
were my late dad's equipment and I just purchased a new/old Pickering XUV D4500Q stylus XUV cart (cost more then the SEK-2 I am looking at)I want to look at all of them so I can keep Pop's LP collection in good condition.

I found the seller on Craigs List in Oregon( I live in Texas). I Googled the SEK-2 and on the second page there was a listing for one for sale. I clicked on the link and
and asked was it still for sale. He emailed back yes for $65.00 local pick up only. And no Paypal.
I emailed back I would would pay all Paypal fee's and freight and ins. and offered him $130.00 shipped and Insured. He opened a Paypal account and I sent him the funds. :D
He told me it was his late Father In Laws that had a electronics shop and it worked and had the light and a spare bulb and the book that came with it.
He just emailed me a UPS tracking # :thmbsp: I got Lucky.

Damn, sounds like a good deal, I got a used Olympus for the same task for about $200 on feebay, I need to find out what type of stylus I should compare my Rega to on the needle shape chart.

I have my fingers crossed that it really is in good shape(pic in add looks OK). I will post up when UPS delivers it next week. I finally installed Pop's old Pickering XUV cart. I looked for weeks for a new/old Pickering D4500Q stylus with the tracking brush. WOW it has a full solid sound:music:, but I was compairing this to a old Shure M70B(new stylus) as my ADC XLM stylus is worn out. 61 and still going to school on vintage music equipment. I forgot how much fun spining vinyl is.:thmbsp:
