Microsoft XBOX A JOKE

My kids enjoy online gaming, and I like the games too. Lately some other kids are threatening to have them banned and for no good reason whatsoever. I often am with my kids while they are playing and not one of those clueless parents. Does anyone who works for Microsoft have children? Do these clueless employees really think children understand their twisted reporting system?

The kids that are threatening mine are the sore losers that don't know how to play the games, so they submit false reports to the "Microsoft Police". Nice work, Microsoft, for creating a platform where bullying thrives.

The other night my child wanted me to put on his headset to talk to a 14 year old who says his father works for Microsoft and the stated my kids have excessive complaints.

This whole complaint system is a joke and the "so-called" moderators are clueless.

I have been to the XBOX forum to see why kids get banned and some are banned until the year 9999 which is also a joke - real good software Microsoft. Nice job.

I understand there are legitimate reasons to get banned but the current system is rife with problems.

Anyone else have such an experience? And if so, did you child get "banned" for no good reason?

I remember when XBox Live was new..and not everyone was using it. Most of us only had the one demo that was live enabled. We spent most of our time siting in the staging area voice-chatting.

But, it quickly turned sour.

The problem with online gaming are the kids. All of them, immature children that are sore losers. They talk trash, curse you out...all because they can't play.

I got out of it before they started having communtiy moderation. Community moderation is a bad idea...because most of the people that use it are dishonest. If they have an issue with you, they'll report you over and over. Quite simply, people abuse the system and get away with it.

The system has gotten so large MS can't keep up with it, so half the time no one reviews the complaints and simply just reacts.

The attitude of gamers in general, who take it WAY too seriously is why I got away from online gaming in the first place. I haven't even had a console since Wii, and all I ever did with that was play Rockband with my friend. The last online gaming I did...it was an online multiplayer hack for the PC version of GTA San Andreas, and even then it took me a week to find a small server of normal sane people who weren't too competitvie.

So, yeah, the problem with the system, IMO, are the immature people on it....but that's true of any service.

hi dewdude,

Thanks for your take on this. I appreciate what you are saying. This nonsense is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth with regard to Microsoft. True, they are not to blame for all of the problems as like you said, lots of kids abuse the system and get other innocent kids in trouble. And that is bull@#$%. Paying for two subscriptions to XBOX live, I certainly don't need this nonsense and my children being upset because of sore losers who tattle and fabricate stories and get the good children in trouble.

Nintendo tries hard to prevent anyone from being able to do anything that would require reporting in the first place, and everyone hates them for it. It's herding cats. You just can't win.

I think the clue is in the MicroSOFT. Soft Cell or Soft Sell, it sounds the same old, same old.:smoke:

It is sad that kids are excluded because they have valid comments.

Haven't all of these kids slept with your wife by now? (that's also a joke based on what those little kids say) When I used to play Halo on Live I disabled the headset/chat features. I didn't need to socialize with a bunch of 12 y/o's who have banged my mother.

It's true though that players who can't handle the fact that they're bad at it complain like that. A friend of mine was a god at Counter Strike Source and now COD/MW online and he gets complaints all of the time for using hacks. He's not. He's just that good.

Firstly I don't play xbox games and have no direct experience with the complaints/banning system in use but....

...The other night my child wanted me to put on his headset to talk to a 14 year old who says his father works for Microsoft and the stated my kids have excessive complaints. ...

If this is true, ..that the kids father works for MS and is either giving his kid access to data or is sharing data with anyone outside of MS then MicroSoft may very well see that as a breach in policy if not corp security. I for one doubt the kids father works for MS but if so it may be a useful way to shut the kid up.

I doubt the kid's father works for MS as he stated to my son. Could be trying to just intimidate. The same kid also stated things that I know are not true as I just did some reading up on the XBOX forums. Thank you for your input and also to all the others here. I appreciate it.

Boy I never had any of these problems playing Space Invaders on Atari. Worst thing to ever happen there was a broken joystick.

Hahaha, that's just about the oldest one in the book "My dad works at Nintendo! I got to play the new mario game early!" "Oh yeah? MY dad works at sega".

Here's the thing about Xbox live, it's a living sewer, a depository of vile banter from the underaged and those who lack skill. There are fun times to be had on it, but I never thought it was worth it. Here's what you do: disable voice chat and forget about it, it's not even worth getting worked up over some punk kid over some video game. When they start talking crap, ignore it, I think you can even block specific users, but again, I haven't touched Live in years. Don't even engage them, they love arguing. Remember, you should play games because it's fun, don't let someone ruin that for you.

Also, considering the title of the thread, I fully expected it to be about the new "xbox one" fiasco:D

I don't know why everyone thinks it's always a 14yr old kid on the other end. Adults are just as bad.

So....you probably mean 14yr old kids...or people who act like 14yr old kids. I don't play Call of Doo-Doo or Halo or other online games on consoles mostly for that reason. I'd sooner play Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2 or RTS game online PC game because you have a much higher chance of PC gamers over that whole "I wanna fook some shyte up" stage of their life and want to seriously play (but not too serious where they kick you off of a server for not being "good enough").

I just hope Apple doesn't get in on the "game console" idea. MS is actually doing pretty well (games and console sales), but we really don't need hipster Apple fanboi's claiming no console is better than the iBlock (sounds too close to iBox and iCube=GameCube) that uses Wii-mote like controllers that you jerk around called the iFap controller.
