Mr. Whell...

I bought the Adcom GFA-545 that Mike donated to the auction to benefit opt80's family. I went to his house, to pick it up, where I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Mrs. Whell, and the tiny, adorable twin Whell girls. The elder Whell daughter was napping, after a busy afternoon. Mike looked like he was about ready for a nap, too.

The amp is now playing, next to me, from the CR-2020 pre-outs. Sounds great, but I will have to wait until tomorrow to really flex its muscles. Mike warned about condition 'problems'. He overstated the significance of the scratched face, which will be touched up, forthwith, or maybe, fifthwith.

No problem, there. The young fellow in the booth asked me how old the speakers were. I told hime they were about 35 years old. He said, "That's WAY older than me! They CAN'T be worth anything! Away you go."

I drove away with a smile on my face, and my money in my wallet.

The topic of the Adcom never came up.

Mike Whell bought a Carver amp from me. My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting him and his very sweet daughter when he picked it up. He was a true gentleman, and we had a flawless transaction.

Mike - if I run across that manual, I'll send it on!
