Ya, I know, old thread, but a topic still worth discussing. I had a much different take on the KG remasters. Having done some digitizing of analog myself, it sounded like he applied a digital filter to quiet the tape hiss, then goosed the cymbals a bit to compensate for the missing ring and overtones. It sounds flat compared to the analog releases. Yes, he did improve dynamic range but his remix does not sound as authentic as any of the pure analog versions.
