Minimus 7W Thrift Find

I have three pairs of Minimus 7’s, two 7W’s and a black pair. I thought I’d never find a nicer 7W set, until today. These are minty, and still have the original “Oiled Walnut Veneer” stickers attached. All I did was hit the wood with Danish oil, and wipe them down. Cost me $14.99 for them. Very happy to have another nice pair of these little legends.

Very nice!

I used to wait to remove protective films from things, but now I rip them off.
Also the little advertising stickers on laptops and electronics. 14-day programmable timer!
Someone special took care of those all these years.

Whatever you do, don't invite Brent Spiner over your house.

Good find. I just picked up a pair of 7Ws, after a month of searching, for $30.00 and I thought I got them at a steal. My next move will be to recap the crossover as I've heard one can make a real improvement by simply replacing the 4.7uf caps with something a bit more substantial. So far, however, I have been surprised by how they sound in their current state. They sound like speakers much larger than they actually are.

Considering getting a silver pair of "Minimus" for front speakers (L&R) in a 5.1 surround system.

Does anybody think these would be up to the job, with the remaining three and the sub being Polk?

Hoping to reduce the surround footprint, and using the present "Polk" fronts as mains in my audio sys.

Would the "Min's" be suffice?

Great iconic little speaker that punches way above its weight.

Having owned a pair and used with a sub they sounded pretty good so I'll assume they will definitely be sufficient and up to the job.

The one's I've found all needed new surrounds for the woofer and usually had very bad electrolytic 4.7uF caps. Easy enough to fix, and I would assume that all of them have bad electrolytic caps by now, they weren't super high grade when new. One of mine had actually leaked a little.

Very nice speakers, and the metal ones are mouse proof if you put some screen in the reflex port, an important thing for my shop.
