Hi all -
I am restoring my Elac Miracord 770H turntable. I've had it since I won it in a radio contest back when I was 14 years old.
The original tonearm headshell got damaged some years ago and is lost. I was able to buy another headshell on E-Bay which is a generic Elac-branded one (not sure what model it came off of); I'm going to obtain a cartridge for it an see if it works (it looks compatible (size, contacts, etc), but would love to find another one specifically for the 770H (it had a lever on the front which adjusted the cartridge angle to change with a stack of records, though I only play records one at a time).
I also have a 50H MkII turntable which is a very similar unit. For some reason the headshell/cartridge from that unit doesn't sound the quite the same in the 770H (low-pitched hum despite the turntable being grounded, and also much lower volume than when it's installed the the 50H II).
If anyone knows where I might be able to find an original 770H headshell, please let me know - thanks!
