Mirage 360 speakers - any opinions?

Hi All,
I came across these speakers - Mirage 360 and cant seem to find much info on them. They seem very well built. Cant listen to them - they need a refoam, so was hoping to hear some opinions. Thanks in advance.

Canadian, built by API (Energy, Mirage, Sound Dynamics Image etc.) Mirage 60 series, Early 90's maybe 89. Nice 2 way speaker worthy of a reform

If you can make sure the woofer voice coils have continuity , measure around 4 - 7 ohms on an ohmmeter and be within .2 ohms of each other

Yes, typical of speakers that were developed at the National Research Council in Ottawa, very accurate and neutral. IIRC they sold for about $400/pair back in the day. Worth saving.

Thank you for the comments. I will try to fix them and see how I like them. Hope to see some more comments from people that use/used them, so I can see if mine live up to the opinions of others.

Well, got these refoamed and I now see why people like these. Very musical, clear sounding speaker with decent bass for it's size - I'm glad I took a chance on it.

These speakers are amazing! Such a great sound, very clear, great bass - all from a larger bookshelf size speaker with 8 inch woofer! I just got a pair of well respected Optimus 5B speakers with 12inch woofers 2 mids and a tweeter and Mirages keep up very well with them while being so much smaller. Just amazing! :

They look like Paradigm 5se with an opaque woofer... same Vifa tweeter.

I second ( and third ) that opinion. Well built (cross braced) heavy. Sound terrific.

The 360s hold a special and permanent place in my heart (ear). Stationed at my first active duty post in the Chicago area, I went to my first hi-end audio shop and purchased a Yamaha receiver and a pair of 360s on metal API stands. They were everything I ever wanted. 30 years later I still have have. I had them refoamed about 10 years ago and just recently upgraded the caps and replaced the ferrofluid. I've been rocking Emotiva Stealth 8s for the last 6 years thinking that nothing could replace them. Hooking up my 360s after a long hiatus, I thought they sounded thin and a little heavy in the midrange. My ears were simply playing tricks on me. They had been conditioned to the sound of the Stealths, which are a COMPLETELY different speaker (powered monitors, AMT, flat down to 30Hz and very "accurate" sounding). I gave the 360s a couple days to work their way back into my ears and I've come to appreciate them all over again. I had forgotten that speakers are like people. There are a handful of crappy ones, but most are good and to be appreciated for their unique characteristics. These are simple and very musical speakers. I will never give them up.
