Saw someone selling them locally at a price I wouldn’t pay .
Wondering why satellites were so popular at one point but rarer and rarer today ?
The name is cool Ill say
612E756F-96CA-4A26-8B13-4D22D5A923B7.pngim sad that brand is gone now but even if I wanted to buy them they seem too small.
I always wanted them many years ago but not spending all my money for tiny satellites lol
Just curious how good they are ???

It was a very good mini system. If one was looking for one, this would be a fair price.

oh, many current name brands still sell this type of setup.

Yeah, it's a nice system when small is order of the day. But it's not what you get to raise the roof. It has a purpose and a place.

I have an Athena Micra 6 system in the living room at the GF/SO's place. It's nice for what it is too. Does surprisingly well, but make no mistake it can't hold a candle to much bigger systems.

They could be the best satellites probably not junk ..
This brand made full sized speakers too shame they are bankrupt..
why does no one else use Omni directional tweeters?
First off, they did not go bankrupt. Mirage was a division of API, a well respected speaker conglomerate that was bought out by Klipsch in 2006, who abruptly stopped manufacture of Mirage, Energy and Athena, two other well respected brands.

Second. it you took a little time to search the internet you'll fund quite a few other brands that use omnidirectional tweeters.

anything else you want to educate us on?

Companies have used various schemes attempting to enhance the listening experience.

There have been numerous attempts at "omnidirectional" sound including using tweeters on the sides and/or rear of an enclosure like DCM with their Time Windows or Time Frame series speakers. Ohm use omnidirectional tweeters, Micro Acoustics used a funky 3-5 tweeter array and Bose used numerous varieties of direct/reflected sound and Magnepan uses a dipole radiation pattern all in an attempt to envelop the listener in sound.

Do not confuse omnidirectional sound with Dolby Atmos, they are two completely different technologies. Omnidirectional sound is driver based, Atmos is all electronic.

As the skipper said, we are a friendly group of knowledgeable enthusiasts but we won't suffer fools.

I just find is strange Klipch bought the competition just to shut it all down lol

Really ?

Have you ever seen the movie Wall Street ?

Have you ever heard Mark Knopfler song "Boom Like That" ?

Capitalism: Pure and simple, been going on a looooong time.

Your sig says you're 29

All my grumpy old a** can think is: Kids these days......

Seriously, king, welcome to AK and the wild, weird, wonderful world of HiFi. Opinions will vary and that's what makes this place great and you won't find a friendlier or more informative website for the audio enthusiast.

other companies do sell omni-directional tweeter models, just not the ones you find in Best Buy
Mirage made damn good speakers

There towers must’ve real good .
Normal I’d buy these satellites but I got no job and only $260 in cash .
Maybe see if these go down in price .
.

This is not a fantastic deal. $150.00 would be a good deal. In your position, you should not spend the last of your money on these. Once employed, then it's a different story.
Mirage towers are legendary, just Google the M3si or the M1 towers and read the reviews.

Klipsch just didn't want the competition.

Klipsch's parent company, Voxx International (formerly Audiovox), also owns the brands Acoustic Research (AR) and Advent. Both of those brands are well known classic brands. But no new products from either one. Basically, Voxx International purchased 5 other brands and killed them off.

This type of move can be seen with Harman International promoting Revel and killing off Infinity. Or Sound United buying B&W and killing off Boston Acoustics....and I suspect Polk Audio will be next.

Its not that I was fond of Infinity, but they were a pioneer company over the years and its a shame they are gone. Boston , like EPI and RTR were some of our go to lines over the years. I Always wanted more from Boston , but they chose not to go that direction. I wonder if Rudy had been 20 years younger would he have developed newer designs after the B-200Z. With newer low distortion drivers and smaller more space saving cabinets for Bozak speakers. Would Charlies Russell have toughed it out when Clarion bought Mcintosh and then when Mac was sold to the Denon Marantz group. I wonder if the IDS speaker would have been a true success with a Mcintosh logo and marketing strength. Its a shame Celestion and B&O didn't come together to build speakers after the 5700 and M series updated version. M&K went under but has re arisen in Europe. Its scary time even though the science of sound production has advanced only the very rich can partake in the advancements. Klipsch keeps advancing and though many of us feel they are pricing them selves out of the market, they have pretty much delivered new advanced product while maintain prices that follow the cost of living curve increases. I can remember you could buy a pair of Klipsch horn with an 8B or MC 240 and a C-22 or 7C for about the same price as a Big Ford or Chevy sedan. Today the speakers have still held to the same pricing but unfortunately Mac hasn't and Marantz hasn't either. Yes Klipsch speakers perform better today as do MAC and Marantz electronic and our automobiles have advanced too. But Costing much more.

There are fewer audio buyers every year.
The vendors are merging firms and shutting down the lessers!

And ... FWIW, KingAzz turned out to be a formerly banned user, so he has gone away ...
Again.

That's the nice thing about capitalism. The people who ran Mirage and all of the other brands that are now shut down got paid for their properties, Klipsch didn't invade their headquarters, kill off the leaders and take over. Capitalism was the reason those brands existed in the first place.

Polk I think will stay, due to the new SDA speakers they are making. BA will be more for portable audio and cars, which is where they were going. Sound United has been in the audio business for 100 years.

Harman which is now owned by Samsung, killed off Infinity because there was no one designer for that brand that was still with the company. It was an also ran, unfortunately. Revel is their high end speaker brand that really doesn't cost like one (that is my opinion, BTW).

Boston Acoustics hasn’t had any new products in nearly 10 years. I don’t see BA being revived for anything at this point.

The Nanosats a actually really good, in their intended role. They are obviously meant to be paired with a sub and used in a 5.1, or greater, home theater setup. I got a set of the Nanosat Prestige with 4 sats and the center for $100 at a pawn shop. The center and 2 of the sats are in my main system, and the other 2 sats are in a 2nd system. I'd actually LOVE to pick up a pair of the OMD-28's for my fronts. They are gorgeous speakers, and fetched a pretty penny back in the day.
