Mitsu R-10/Advent 5002. Newbie trying not to mess things up

So, with the help of all of you here, I recently purchased my first pieces of real audio equipment. I found a Mitsubishi DA-R10 receiver, a Pioneer PL-400 TT, and some Advent 5002's. I'm pretty stoked, but I want to make sure I'm doing this right. The speakers need to be re-foamed; that's obvious from looking at them. The other pieces seem to be in good working order. The guy who had the tt knew what he was doing. Hooked it up to a sansui 2000x to show me that it worked.
My main question revolves around the speaker/receiver situation. I've read a lot about how an amp that's too underpowered for the speakers can be damaging, but haven't been able to find the exact answer I'm looking for. I believe the Mitsubishi is about 45 wpc (the manual on electrotanya convienently has page 2 missing). Will this be safe with those speakers? I'd hate to fry something.
Other than that, any other advice for getting started will be much appreciated. Links to existing threads that have already answered my questions are also a-okay.

You should be fine. I've used 20wpc to 85wpc receivers into OLA's. The 5002's are a fine speaker to start your journey.

If you have inadequate power the receiver will sound strained when you turn it up too loud. If you have too much power the speakers will sound strained when you turn it up too loud. So, if you hear any sense of strain merely reduce the volume and carry on.

What Joe said. Just don't go volume crazy and you'll be fine. You would be surprised at how few watts are needed to produce normal levels of sound -- often less than 1 watt.

Once your speakers get repaired, you're going to have a fantastic setup! Hardly a starter system...

You can damage 100 watt speakers with a 10 watt amp if that amp is driven beyond its capability to deliver a clean, unclipped signal.

An easy way to protect your speakers would be to install an in line fuse. This way the fuse will pop before your speakers do.

I have Advent 4002's and they are incredibly good, probably my third favorite speakers so far.

Thank's for all of you input. You have definitely eased my worried mind. I've never believed in turning things up to full volume anyways.
