Mitsubishi Amp/Meter/Pre-Amp Questions

Now for my story.
I started out by getting a Mitsubishi DP-103 CD player a couple of months ago.
I love it. It started out slow(played-then-not play). Now it plays real good all the time. It will even play data disc with music on it (that is a disc my Sony RCD-W500C will not record on), but recorded music on from my Nero TDK burner from my PC Hard Drive.

Then, today, I was driving down a major inner city road and saw shinny silver units stack on top of each other at a garage sale. I always stop for audio gear.
I got out and went over and saw the Mitsubishi gear.

TURNTABLE = DP-EC2 = with a Signet 3Ea cartridge
Cassette = DT-10
Tuner = DA-F10
Pre/amp = DA-P10
Amp = DA-A7DC
meters = DA-M10

Naturally the price was good enough, cause it is sitting in front of me now, and I am trying to hook it up.

Now for the question. I want to make sure that I got this right.

On the back of the amp = only has P-Input
On the meter unit, it has P-Input and P-Output
On the pre/amp, it has Pre-out

I start with the pre-amp(with the pre-out) and go to the meter unit(into the P-Input)
then I go from the meter unit (P-Output) and go to the amp (P-Input)

Can anyone tell me if I got that right for hooking this up????
I have never done a amp/pre-amp system before. I have only had integrated amps before.
I believe I have it figured out. Pre amp out connects go to the amp in connects. Except in this case, with the meters, pre amp goes into the input of meter and from the meter output to the amp input.
attached photo is of the tuner, amp, pre-amp, and meter unit, which I am trying a test run to see if everything works. One knob is missing , but, all the lights work. The meters kind of goes on and off. I would have included the cassette deck, but, after hooking this all up, the cassette deck is too huge to set on top. But, they all looked real nice stacked in size on top of each other.

Mitsubishi DA-M10 meter

The meter shows that it will connect (dock) to the other two models of this one I have. The one I have is the bottom line, DA-A7DC. The other two the meter connects to, which on the meter has the selection for them, is the 10 and the 15 model.

I have been powering it for a few hours now, with just a headphone load, and seems to be pretty cool to the touch.

A friend of mine said something about the two red dots on the amp, that is was for when the amp runs hot.???

I sure do like the sound to my Sony headphones. Cant wait to hook up either my ADS L-710's or my Marantz HD 77's to this set up.
I sure do like BIG lighted power meters.

I've owned my DA-A10DC for 34 years, rocked it through college, and I'm listening to it right now. Never had the red dots come close to changing color. As long as you keep the top of the amp unobstructed (nothing stacked on top of it :thmbsp:) you will not have a problem. :D
 
Been up to similar things

I have been putting together a similar system. Just got the last piece a couple of days ago. I have it hooked up to some first series Bose 601's and it sounds great. I have a pair of late 80's JBL's that I want to try it with too. Fun to seem them take shape, isn't it?

Nice. In your avatar, lt looks like the meters on top, next is pre-amp, then tuner, then cassette, then Pioneer RtR, and the amp on the botom.

The Mitsubishi DA-M10 meters are Real Nice, aren't they. It sure does match the DA-F10 real nice, balance in the arrangements of the meters of both. I really like the looks of the DA-P10 that I have. I like toggle switches more than push button switches.

I have a Marantz 6200 turntable, but, the more I look at the Mitsubishi DP-EC2 turntable, the more I grow fonder of it. Kind of sexy looking, with the "all Black" look.
I have a photo of mine, I have the head shell/cartridge off now(Signet TK3EA)working on getting a new stylus for now.
You can't tell from the photo, but, that album is Journey's first album.

The level meters are dead-on match to the F 10. My guess is the 20's came out a bit later but the meters were never changed. My stack is sitting the way it is because of the depth of the components. Deepest at the bottom. I like the looks of the amp, so I don't think I'll hook up anything in front. I have a good friend who is an awesome stainless welder, and we're going to fabricate some racks for both this and the DA 600 series system I picked up. Love the rack looks!

Cramped for space, but, I tried to get all the mits gear in one photo.
Will try another space and photo later.

In my profile albums, I did add the mits DP103 cd player to the Mits album.
I still need to capture the DA-A7DC and add it some how.

Greetings Brother !
I am planning to sell both a Mitsubishi Model DA-A7DC Audio Amplifier and it's mating DA-M10 Meter Unit, botgh are in immaculate, perfect working condition and while doing a bit of research I ran across your posting. Likely you have already figured out what the issue was that was causing your meter unit to be a bit intermittent, however, if, by chance, you have not already solved the problem, I too, had this issue with my meter unit.
I discovered that the problem was a very simple one. All that had to be done was to thoroughly clean the electrical contact pins on the accessory interconnecting cable that connects the meter head to the power amplifier. I highly recommend using a product called 'DeOxit', an excellent electrical contact cleaner and deoxidizing agent. In fact, I recommend cleaning ALL of the interconnecting connectors on both the meter unit as well as the amplifier. I had the same intermittent problem with the left meter of my unit at one time as well as an intermittent connection on one of the amplifier channels. A good old fashioned, proper cleaning resolved the problem and I've never had it occur again !
These are VERY high quality components and perform flawlessly ! The fact that the power amplifier is direct DC coupled, without DC coupling capacitors involved, provides for a very natural, clean audio reproduction ! I'm not sure what you paid for the garage sale units but I'm sure that you scored BIG on that find, congratulations !
I am planning to sell my set of amplifier and meter unit very soon as I have developed some hearing loss (20 years with the U.S. Army) and can no longer truly appreciate the fine quality that this unit provides anymore. I also need to raise some operating capital with which to purchase a matched pair of type 3-500ZG vacuum tubes for a 50 MHz RF Power Amplifier that I recently built for use with my Amateur Radio hobby of 45 years.
Enjoy your gear, sounds like you have an excellent collection of some of the finest older gear that has been supplanted by modern crap sadly. In order to obtain that level of quality and performance today you need very deep pockets !
