Hi

Bought one of these on ebay with a power meter. Both are in great shape but when I took the power meter off of the amp I noticed there is no switch to turn the power on and off. It's not a big deal, but it's strange I don't see any evidence of the on/off switch being there. The amp power can easily be controlled through the power meter. The light is there.

Did Mitsubishi ever make the amp this way? If this was customized I can't see anything to indicate that. The amp is smooth as if it came from the manufacturer.

Just curious if anyone knows anything.

Thanks

Let’s see a pic. I’ve owned a lot of Mits stuff and I sure all Mitsubishi gear is equipped with a power switch. It’s on the face panel of the A10 unit

Hi

I just figured it out -- it's the Mitsubishi DA-A10 (not 10DC). Once I realized I had the wrong model number I got this:

Yes, the original Mitsubishi DA-A10 power amplifier was designed without a front-panel power on/off button or switch

Made a slight oversight on the buy I guess but the amp is dedicated to bedroom speakers so it's more than adequate.

Thanks for replying.

If I am remembering the DA lineup right, that is how the DC version was sold. The A10DC is a straight power amp with no switch of its own on the face; the companion DA-M10 meter unit carries the power switch and the umbilical that keys the amp, which is why the amp lights up and shuts down from the meter. The couple of examples I have seen behave exactly that way, and unplugging the meter leaves you switching it at the outlet. So the A10 with a front panel switch may be the earlier non-DC version. Given that your chassis is smooth with no filled hole or plugged cutout, I doubt anyone modified it. A shot of the rear panel would settle it.

Thanks all for the input here. It's clear now: I thought I was buying a later model of the amp (DA-A10DC) and I the one I got was an earlier model (DA_A10 - no direct coupling) manufactured without a power switch. Guess it was considered a given that you'd be pairing it with one of their preamps or the power meter -- where it would be powered from. Exactly what I plan to do. No big deal.
