Mitsubishi DP-EC7 Help

Hi All,

I'm looking for some help/guidance with some issues I am having with a Mitsubishi DP-EC7 table we just acquired. The table did not come with an owner's or service manual, so I am basing my understanding of proper operation on this video:
Mitsubishi DP-EC7 - YouTube

The table we acquired is in really nice shape and appears to function properly with two exceptions:
1. The back left light prism does not stay on; it turns on and off rather randomly. My understanding is this light is used to determine record type (33 or 45 rpm) and whether there is a record on the platter? Does it have any other function (other than looking cool)?
2. The platter starts to turn as soon as the power switch is rotated on instead of waiting until the tone arm is over the record.

Otherwise with a 33 rpm record loaded, the automatic play and return to rest at the end of the record functions work, the platter just doesn't stop rotating once the toner returns to its rest. I have also tested that the tone arm will not sit down on an empty platter (if the light prism is on); rather the tone arm sweeps over the platter and then returns to its rest. We don't have any 45's to test, but manually switching to the 45 rpm speed with a 33 rpm record does increase the motor speed to 45 rpm (platter speed is constant under strobe). The table also appears to auto sense that a 33 is loaded, again as long as the prism light is working. The strobe light, pitch controls, and motor speed regulation all seem to work fine.

I have done some searching and this post has provided some very helping info:

This is my first turntable, so I am sure some of the following will seem rudimentary to most. I would like to inspect the four lights around the tone arm bearing and believe I need to turn the player upside down to remove the bottom panel. Do you need to remove the platter or do anything with the tone arm other than ensure it is locked in place? If I need to remove the platter, how is this done? To turn power on, I need to unlock the tone arm upside down; anything to worry about? Do you set the table on the dust cover?

I've gathered that all four lights near the tone arm bearing need to be on all the time (when power is on)? Is the prism light a fifth bulb over on that side of the plinth? Any ideas why it wouldn't stay on; bad contact? Are there are lights/mirrors to inspect?

Anyone know where to find a service manual? audio-database.com doesn't seem to have anything.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Holidays and Thank You in Advance,
Glenn
