You're happy with the Stanton so all is well. But if you find, say, a Koetsu Urushi lying in the street, the LT-20 will handle it with aplomb. The only difference will be the SQ. The detachable headhsells are a big advantage over other LTs confined to P-mount, but more than that, the short stainless-steel Mitz arm seems to welcome a wide range. I've used over a dozen carts on mine, from very high-compliance MM/MI to low-compliance MC — they all perform well.
The sliding weight on the armtube is used to set VTF, but it can also alter mass. Sometimes I don't use it for VTF. I place it forward near the headshell for higher effective mass (e.g. with LOMCs) — or move it back to the bearing assembly for lower eff mass with MM — then set VTF using a scale. I also use h'shells of various mass for different carts — the standard Mitz shell is extremely low mass, well-suited to the Stanton. But as mentioned before, when you find that Koetsu...
Did you get the Overhang Jig with them? It's very precise, and so easy. Be sure to eyeball it at 90°, so parallax isn't a factor. BTW, I remove the rubber washer from the h'shell — this changes the distance by 1mm, and must be compensated. There's some debate about the practice, but I think it improves the rigidity of the mounting. and to a small degree, the electrical contact.
