Mitsubishi LT-5V tracking errors

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a Mitsubishi LT-5V vertical turntable. It needed new belts, so I replaced them. I cleaned the guide rod and the gears that move the tonearm and applied new grease. Now, the automatic tonearm functions as intended.

However, the left arrow on the tracking error indicator is nearly always lit. The tonearm seems to be tilted in that direction, which makes me think it's not a sensor error. Also, the tonearm housing doesn't seem to slide inward as the record plays. The cartridge tracks properly for a while, but eventually skips backwards after the angle gets pretty extreme. I've tried with both 12" and 7" records with the same results.

Does anyone have any insight into adjusting the angle of the tonearm left and right? The operation and service manuals talk about shifting the point at which the stylus drops onto the disc and adjusting the overhang of the stylus, but nothing about this problem.

Thanks in advance,

James

It was, in fact, not this. there's a weight in the top of the tonearm that was moved to one side. I adjusted it and the tonearm now hangs straight.
