Mitsubishi SS-1000 speakers

Have a pair of these i got a while ago, got them for free from a friend of mine's dad. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with these? I know they were around sometime in the 80's, but don't know much else about them, I didn't even know mitsubish made stereo components. With this I also recieved a mitsubishi turntable (in completely non-working condition). It was belt driven but probably weighed less than 4 lbs, seemed like total junk. Did Mitsubishi just make a bunch of low-end stuff in the 80's? Fairly unattractive speakers, yet I don't think they sound too bad. Thoughts or opinions?

Not something I'd pick up but if they sound good to you, that's what matters. Those look like from the 80's era of rack system stuff and when they thought putting sound graphs on the speakers was a sign of....something.

Mitsubishi, like most japanese manufacturers, made a wide range of equipment. Most of the stuff that discussed here is their high end, which is very good, but they made fairly pedestrian stuff also, as you have seen.
My impression is that even their plane jane stuff can be fairly good relative to the competition. But as has been pointed out, if they sound good to you, that's what matters. And it might be worth bracing the cabinet and a few other tweaks that might improve the sound without throwing a lot of money at them.
