model 140 meter issue

I have one model 140 amplifier and am planning to buy another from a friend at a very cheap price. It works fine except the right meter is non functional. Can these meters be opened up and oiled? And if the meter is in fact dead after testing it does anyone know where I might look to find another one? :scratch2:

First see if it swings. Take a DMM on DC test setting and touch the 2 meter terminals, if you have any movement at all then take it to the next step. Get some deox d5 , clean out the movement by spraying where the pivot is and back off the pivot screw 1/8" turn and it should improve. Just a quick shot of d5 should do it, you don't want to soak it.

Thanks. I have some deox and other lubes and cleaners. I just wasn't sure if the meter was adjustable or not. I have one 140 amp that I've never opened personally. Now I know! Thanks again :thmbsp:

Well the aren'tadjustable per-se. Check to make sure they move first.
