Today was a good day! Our local landfill setup a trailor for electronics. Mostly are old TVs and computors. Today I hit paydirt. Found a Kenwood KR 7200 receiver. It was missing a button for the hi filter. Kept digging and found a Kenwood KR 5200. Took both. There was a Girard turntable with a Shure M55 cart. Miraculously, the stylus was like new. The cart body was bad,but I have another body. It went on my Dual 1009 Debated bringing home a Panasonic 8 track recorder. Figured someone here might be a 8 track collector.Since it was raining today, I got to play with my new toys. Cleaned up the KR 7200. It was fairly clean inside. Took it apart to clean the controls. Almost blew out my KLH mini test speakers. Its a beast. All the dial lights work. Good FM. The cabinet is a little ratty but looks OK. Put it in my shop set for now. It was hard to pull the KR 5400 which came from the landfill too. Tried the 8 track. Had to go to the local Sal Army for a test tape. The Shure stylus is on a working body. Sounds great. Did not get a chance to look at the KR 5200. Its really ratty. Did steal a knob off it for the 7200.
Anyone into 8 tracks is welcome to the Panasonic. It works. Not sure how well. Should have bought two tapes. You never know if its the machnie or the tape:scratch2:. Ah it was a good day. And got the cover off the stereo cabinet so the SX 850 can breath better
