Money NO object. What to buy?

The question wasn't whether or not your home acoustics suck or if there is such a thing as "the perfect" system. My answer is pretty clear but based on my own personal prejudices since I've not heard any of these components I'd like to have. Though I do agree, the first purchase with the winnings would be a new home. But, to the question of speakers and amps:

JBL Project Everest-II DD66000 (can't decide between ebony or rosewood)
Crown Studio Reference-II

Tubes and Horns and round spiny things, oh and shiny stuff.

Welcome to AK!

Still working on the specifics, but here goes.

Khorns

SP-10 MK III with custom plinth by Divotdog and dual tonearms to try every type of cart I want to!

SET amp of some kind (still learning but thinking 300B) with Divotdog custom base. Dual Mono of course.

Matching Phono pre-amp (thinking seduction).

Of course everything with boutique caps and such.

For now this will do.

I'd first build the perfect listening room while I hired someone to build custom speakers and amps.

Emerson portable cd player with Koss earbuds.

but in all honesty, I don't know enough about the subject at hand, so i would keep what i got and buy some nice vinyl.

Ahhhh. The Lottery-Winnings System.:music:

McIntosh MA6800 integrated amp (150wpc)
Rega Planet or Yamaha A-2000 CD player
ReVox B710 Cassette Deck
I'd keep my present Yammi tuna -- it's good enough for what I can get on FM
KEF Maidstone speakers
I'm open to suggestions on turntables... as long as they're full-auto stackers, that is -- and a cart to match.

I don't know enough about really hi-end gear to say.Probably would get the TOTL Mac setup.I would also have a nice 60's tube setup built around some Tannoy 15" silvers or EV Patricians.TOTL Sansui separates from the 70's.I think I would have five setups of my choice than one super hi-end deal.I love audio but wouldn't go overboard.I can think of many others ways to enjoy a million bucks.

OK, I'll bite:

Room: Larger, in a small house, no neighbors, Rives Design treated ($700k, given the crazy housing prices here)
Speakers: B&W 802D speakers ($14k)
Power Amp: 2 x Jeff Rowland 501 Monoblocks, one per speaker for bass ($6k)
Power Amp: 1 x Jeff Rowland 112 running into tweeters and mids ($2k)
Preamp: McIntosh C500 ($11k)
DAC/Sources: McIntosh MCD500, Sonos ($6k)
Power: PS Audio Power Plant Premier ($2k)
Passive Resonator: Song of the Wood Grande Concertmaster Hammered Dulcimer (http://songofthewood.com/jerry's_dulcimers.htm) (:thmbsp:) ($5k)

Total: $46k for audio. Scary.

Well this is what I would get.....

Speakers: custom Tekton Design fullrangers 2000
Amps: Bottlehead Paramounts 1500
Head Amp: Bottlehead SEx amp 500
Headphones: Grado GS1000i 1000
Phonopre: Sutherland PHD 3800
Turntable: Nottingham Analogue Space 294 with "heavy" kit and Wave Mechanic Power supply 6800
Cartridge: Clearaudio Stradavari 3500

And atleast as much on just Vinyl itself!

I would rent the Merrylander for a week to come and look at my Yamahas to make sure everything is OK.

Then I would take a nice vacation......:D

If money were no object huh?...

Well, I'd keep what I've got for a tube setup, maybe sub in a set of 60th aniversary K-horns for my speakers, and maybe put a Grado Statement on the TT. But that setup wouldent change much, I'm pretty content.

I would put together a high-end Solid state system for days when I wanted a change of pace.

Something like a Pair of McIntosh 501's, C-220, a MCD-500, Rega P9 w/Rega Apheta. Speakers would be Martin Logan CLX's. Really not that unobtainable if I were to put my mind to it, and save for a decade.

One compelling thought is that I'm pretty happy with what I have. I suppose I would buy some High Emotions speakers when the subs get out of prototype stage.
I think I would chase a Revox A700 and a Rockport turntable system, 'cause they are heavy and sexy. I'd try and find a Threshold 400 amp and maybe an ARC SP6. I still wouldn't own a CD player!
