Hi,
I’m trying to establish what Monitor Audio doped these domes with. It appears to be a yellow-brown liquid, I guess most probably a type of glue, any ideas?
I’ve always liked these tweeters but certain frequencies do ring a little, to my ear anyway, so I can understand why MA decided to treat them with this coating. I’ve heard a couple of MAs with the modified tweeters and the sound is certainly a little smoother than the untreated tweeters.
I’m renovating a pair of RAM 1 speakers, I happen to have some spare KK8’s so I’d like to modify them along the same lines as MA and see if I can improve one of the few minor flaws with this otherwise impressive speaker.
First pic standard KK8
Second pic MA modified KK8
Last pic the Ram1
