Monster Cable score

Time Coherent windings????

Had to call it something. Now if you are smarter than the guy who created technical improvements to Skywalker Studios then I would look forward to hearing how you can tell us how he is mistaken about electrical theory and appropriate solutions.

Nah, the magnetic flux tube is pretty much what Bill described; we used to sell it.

The 'justification' was that it gave magnetic energy someplace to travel, other than copper.

You realize though that there's a conductor in that inner core? Here's a snapshot of mine that I just stripped off the blue insulation.

The way it was explained to me at the store when I bought them was that I was to strip the insulation off at both ends and twist it in with the rest of the wire - it was separate for 'more accurate transmission of the highs'.

Unless they're referring to that clear plastic sheath that's around the outer conductor. In which case, IDK? LOL

Nope, just checked their website. That clear plastic is the LPE Dielectric.

That blue center conductor must be the magnetic flux whatever-it-is.

Looks silver. Maybe it is silver? That could explain better highs. Ive used monster cable for mic cable and as interconnects. No doubt they are a fluffed up advertising/marketing company first but that does not mean they dont make some (admittedly way overpriced) good products. I could tell zero difference bw Monster M1000 MK3 interconnects (Neutrik Pro Fi RCA plugs) and AudioQuest Emeraldx3 (AQ TOTL copper cable from mid/late 90s). These are very different cables construction wise as the monster has many strands per conductor and the AQ are single stranded conductors. To me they sounded the same.

From what I can tell in person, it's probably copper - that pic does show it a little silvery though.

Now that I've cut back a couple inches and see that there's shiny clean copper in there, I might need to find a use for it all - I do have extra speakers and that Sony D1090 I picked up over the summer that's still in its box... hmmm.

Eh feel free to answer the same question if you want. I couldn't. Bruce Brisson is a pretty bright guy, who knows how to use test equipment far better than the average Joe. An excerpt from an interview gives this nugget of information.

In an effort to quantify every component, every networked cable that is developed at MIT undergoes testing during development. I own two Hi-Rel Hewlett Packard impedance analyzers, one stays at my home lab, and the other in my office at MIT. In addition, in order to insure quality control of every product, MIT additionally owns two additional impedance analyzers that we use on the production line.

From this interview

It is my opinion that he knows a thing or two about electrical engineering, and a thing or two about cable design. But that is just my opinion. If you can prove this wrong, I sure would be interested in reading it.

If that single strand of insulated wire gave us "more accurate transmission of the highs" than surely we could measure that and Monster would tout the improvements as measurable facts with actual data.
"Time Coherent Windings" sounds like something to do with phase shift. Again, easily measured.
Where is the data? Monster sells BS!
I'm not saying that all of there products are junk, I happen to like there better speaker wire. I'm just not buying it new so those A-Hole add executives can get bonus money out of my pocket. If I was buying new, I'd look elsewhere.

I sure would be interested to know if your boy has a degree in electrical engineering.

Amazing. Trash a company when you willingly buy their products from the used market. You really shouldn't compromise your principals with even buying used products..... A well pricipaled fellow would refuse to be associated with the company under any circumstances. Box it up and send it to me, I can dispose of it for you. Moral integrity always be paramount.;)

Just want to add something else, if the interconnect cables were so much more accurate in transmitting low level signals, I think there are a large number of companies that would like to know about them.
One product that comes to mind is an extremely high gain amplifier for amplifying signals that even our most sensitive preamps couldn't pick out from the back ground noise.
As of yet, I see no Monster cables on any oscilloscope probes.
If Tektronix started using Monster cable technology in there scope probes than maybe I would say there is something to there BS. The transmission of signals, especially low frequency signals like audio is fully understood and documented and can be measured with extreme accuracy down to many, many decimal points.

Mister Pig, I have no problem buying there stuff for penny's on the dollar. The original purchaser already contributed his hard earned dollars to the dishonest corporate swindlers. I'm just paying what it's worth on the used spot market at the time. Not one cent of my money goes back to Monster. Like I said earlier, I like the better quality speaker cable they sell when I can get it for 20 cents a foot or less.

No he probably has a degree in something and I don't.It doesn't mean he can't bullshit people either.

I have never or will I ever purchase new Monster products. I can't stand a company that makes it's money with marketing BS.

Monster sells BS

BillWojo

most of what I have is Monster brand.

Moe, are you a politician? You sure know how to bend words. I think your funny. Re read my post.

Nope I fix your furnace and ac when it's broken. I'll use your direct words this time

Bill: "I have never or will I ever purchase new Monster products. I can't stand a company that makes it's money with marketing BS. Monster sells bs"
Me: "interesting, what type of cables do you use"
Bill: "most of what i have is monster brand"
Me: o_O.... :dunno:

Better?

i think youre funny too ;). i'm just ribbing you a little bit :D

Ya got me Moe. Glad to see you contribute to society in a useful way, hope your not mad at me for insinuating that you were a politician.
