Montgomery Ward Model 250

I have a Montgomery Ward model 250 receiver. GEN 6949A. I am looking for a service manual to give to my service technician, as we can’t find one online. Bought a U-Turn Orbit turntable with KEF Q150 bookshelf speakers. Plugged it in and the phono isn’t working on the receiver, I have white noise on the right channel, and the volume knob is scratchy when music is being played. Receiver has a new STK 463, and has been recapped.

Sounds like a dirty volume control. Possibly the input select switch or phono select switch is dirty as well.

Supposedly they have been cleaned.

Supposedly..... Scratchy controls is either a dirty control or a bad control. Personally when it comes to buying and selling vintage gear. Cleaning controls and switches is a given. Regardless what is advertised.
