Moonraker & close encounters of the third kind.

While relaxing on the bed and cruising AK, Im watching Moonraker . Theres a scene in which 007 and Q are putting gas masks on , before they enter a door. There is a keypad to open the door, and every key on the pad has a distinct musical note designated , that is matched with a certain number.

As Aent 007 enters the keycode , I hear a very familiar tune .... The SAME exact tune used in Close encounters of the third kind ! The tune that the aliens are sending to the people of earth throughout the movie , and finally , recognized at the end scene ( you know the one I mean )

Anyone ever notice this ? I guess its irrelevant and not that big of a deal , I just never had caught it before tonight ... hehe Cheers

The Roger Moore "007" movies had a number of little "Gotchas" like that in 'em, usually w/Moore looking surprised/non-plussed/grinning at the little joke.

I saw Moonraker in the theaters during its release. Everybody in the theater chuckled during that scene. The Close Encounters theme, like Star Wars before it, had been a hit song on Top 40 radio.

Of course, both movies were release withing a year or two of each other. Nowadays, that scene might slide by many.

Probably done as a tip of the hat to the writers, producers etc. of Close Encounters.

On a similar subject, if you listen to the track "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" by the Propellerheads, about five minutes in it goes over to an orchestral piece from Moonraker I believe. You can see it here.
