More Kenwoods to ID: KL-7090 - 70's vintage? (Manual Pics Added!)

Kenwood KL-7090
5 way 6 speaker system
16 1/2"x11 1/2"x25"

I recently got 4 of these from a friend who was going to throw them out!! 2 in pretty good condition, 2 in fair looks, but all play decently with my Sansui G-8000.

They seem to have a real wood veneer on particle board. Three horns, tweeter, midrange, 15'' woofer. They have a heck of a crossover inside, adjustable with the tone selector. All the speakers say Trio on the back (Kenwood's old/Japan name perhaps?)

The grill fabric is pretty rough and waterstained - I thought before I replaced or painted the fabric I'd try to find out the vintage/original price/value of these. Any info is appreciated!

Richard (kenwood_lover) was kind enough to scan the manual for these speakers. He and I both have the 7MB original manual images if they are useful to anyone.

Info on KL-7090 Speakers

hi, i bought a set of these on ebay last year purely by chance (they looked nice but i had no idea what they sounded like!), and ever since i have been hooked on them. i have since purchased another two sets of them. i love their full, rich, warm and dynamic range, - the best set of speakers i've experienced yet, though i am only 19! i'm running them through my vintage Akai AA-1135 Receiver and a Technics SH-8065 Equalizer. i must admit, i didn't think they sounded anything special at first but once you tweak the EQ by cutting the mid slightly and upping the bass they really do come into their own. i have the original user manual which contains all the spec. i could email you what it says if you like? do you know much about the KL-7080 model? i was going to buy a set but there's no point unless they are better than the KL-7090, which is probably a hard thing to achieve!......

It's a fact that in the UK Kenwood was/is branded as 'Trio'.
I always wonder how comes they use another name over there?

It was Trio up until the late 70's or early 80's. Kenwood was only known for food mixers and kitchen stuff until then!
 
I think many people underestimate the quality sound of the 70's Kenwood speakers. I bought a set of KL-888's in '79 and loved them. Man could they take the power.
