another pair of primus 362 mint pristine upgraded came up on the list. Interior cabinet bracing added and new sound deadening material installed. $220 the pair and this time I'm gonna get em. guy lost job needs $$ moving to smaller place, must sell em.
Will report when they're home hooked up.

You wouldn't happen to have an unmodified pair to compare with would you? I'd be really interested to see what the mods did for the sound.

Sounds like this person was following the advice of WMax, who posts in the Audioholics forums. (I would ask him about that.) Wmax and other people there do a bunch of modifications to the Primus speakers.

plan to pik them up thursday. seller told me he upgraded interior cabinet bracing and and put in more/better sound deadening material. Said made deep articulated bass and very clear midrange. I have no way to compare with stock units so can only say how they sound and I'v not heard any of these infinities before so all will be new to me.

yes he used wmax for the upgrades and the spkrs sounded great on his system, both tube and SS, both of modern design not 'vintage', with Analysis cables and all. He told me that he noticed a definate improvement in the SQ in the midrange and bass aftre the upgrade. stifening up the box and eliminating all internat vibrations and reflections made a big diff. All I can say is that they DO sound good. Tomorrow into my system they go. Due to his job loss he's also selling a power conditioner which I mite go for later. Its a Panamax or some name like that.

You will be pleased with the p362's. I have had mine since Christmas and I love them. I have been told that you can't buy anything better without breaking the $1000 mark. I don't know if I believe that, but, they are really damn good for the money.

How do they compare to the Beta line? I know the Beta's were higher in the heirarchy but I would be interested if any of the Primous owners have heard both. Or the other way around.

I have thought multiple times of replacing my RSIIIa's with Beta 50's - but I just can't bring myself to do it. My amp would thank me though.

I have Primus 360's in addition to RS-IIb's and RS-IIIb's. The 360's are great speakers that perform way above their price point, and they image exceptionally well. But they are not in the same league as the IIIb's, not even close. The IIIb's win hands down in the areas of bass performance (extension, speed, & weight), neutrality, and accuracy.

I had a pair of Beta 20's for a short time. They might have slightly tighter, faster sound and deeper bass due to the stiffer CMMD cones used in the woofers and mids (as opposed to the MMD cones in the Primus speakers), but other than that they sound an awful lot alike.

Good to know. I may get a set of Beta 20's for another room and see if I like the 'modern Infinity' sound. I really do like the RSIIIa's. I entertain the idea of a smaller modern replacements, but I don't see them going anywhere now that I have the Adcom to drive them.

so after a quiwk hook up and listen I must say they sound good, even if not properly placed and with not best hookup wire(#18). It will take some time to really appreciate their qualities that I know exist within the boxes. I'm sure not sorry I bought them and feel I got a super deal for these Infinities. I'm thru looking for more speakers now and can sit back and enjoy.
Thanks to those who commented on the virtues of these infinity 362s
