More speakers??

Another trip to goodwill and another speaker situation. Came across Sony 200 watt SS-U515 speakers and 150 watt pioneer CS-G2001 speakers, each set for $25. I bought the sonys. I'm wondering which pair of speakers is better (pioneer sx-6 receiver) and if either are better than the klipsch kl-2 which I current use. Please help.



Also, I ran across a pioneer pl 450 turntable for $7 and a shure N-25C stylus. I was wondering if I should replace the one on my pioneer pl-50 with the shure?

Well, since you bought the sonys, why don't you hook them out and find out if they are better! As for the turntable, having not heard the PL450, I'd still say stick with the PL 50 because from some images search, the PL450 appears to be a lower end table

Well I tested them and I prefer the Sony speakers but there is a reason I ask peoples opinions on here. I am new to turntables and just set mine up, but I'm not familiar enough with them to know how to achieve the best sound right now, so listening with the speakers at this point doesn't do much good. I'm also planning on getting a new stylus so that may change the sound as well. But thanks for that genius tip.

I'd keep the KL2's, along with the Sony's, at least for now, so you can compare them for a while. As for the tt, what cart are you using now? The shure will probably need a new stylus. Pioneer arms, I believe, are mid mass arms, others will know more, so whatever is on the PL50 may work better with that arm.

Listen to speakers on music you are most familiar with. If you are new to turntables, then test the speakers on FM radio or a cd player through your system. Speakers are the most "personal" part of the equation, and our suggestions on them will only get you 50% of the way to the sound you want. It's your ear and how you like the sound that will deliver you the rest of the way to what you want.
