Hi all,

I have been enjoying the thread on the most desirable vintage speakers and it seems like a lot of them are beyond the size of my space, garage, and station wagon.

So, what would be your most desirable vintage bookshelf speakers (or at least something that fits your space).

I am very much enjoying my Spica SC 50s, and some Design Acoustic PS-10, but what would your choices be?

ps - if you have an opinion on modern bookshelf speakers, please share, thanks!

For me I liked the JBl 4401, a lot. Fantastic speaker. The JBL L19s are smallish... sound great, won't go wrong with a set of L19s I'v been working on some 4301Bs all day, I should have them playing tomorrow. Also have some Decade 16s I'm working on. The 4301Bs have good reviews, hoping they are what folks say. :) I'll know soon enough.

4401s^^

My all time fav "vintage" bookshelfs:

Klipsch KG2
M&K bookshelfs ... both the 1b and 2b
B&W DM12
Pioneer S-X4G (baby HPM 100s)
Quad 11L 1st series
Snell Type K.... 1-3
Realistic Minimus 7s, yea I know... lol
Minimus 11s
JBL 110A

A little larger speaker yet still somewhat small is the JBL L26. I love the Decade series.

Good luck with the project!

:)

Depending on a size

or ADS L 710 is another great option

I picked up a pair of B&W DM601 at a Goodwill for $20. They have a little cosmetic damage but all in all I love them.

I like the JBL L46, my first JBLs, and my recently acquired Kef 103.2s are pretty nice too! Oh, and EPI M100s.

Tried posting this a few times, but with the issues this weekend, never succeeded.

Yea for EPI 100's! These restored walnut ones are going into my son's room later this summer.

Here is one of mine. They will be going into a bedroom system along with a 1959 custom built stereo cabinet without the separate speaker stands, a Mcintosh MA-6200, an Aiwa M700B tape deck, and a dual 1019. I have the gear. Just need to finish the stalled reno’s of the master bedroom and ensuite.

Klipsch RB-5.
B&W 201i.
Yamaha NS-10T...a consumer cousin of the NS-10. Really nice, small and really unassuming speakers. Very light. Very nice on the ears.
