Motorola Custom 20 Tube Amp question

Hey folks. New guy here. Just pulled out an old tube amp from my Motorola Custom 20 record console that looks to be in pretty good shape. I currently am using a Marantz 1060. Is it possible/worth it to try and use this tube amp in conjunction with my Marantz 1060? I have no experience with this btw but I very much appreciate high fidelity. Thanks -Ryan

Hi Ryan, welcome!
I'll jump in to tell you that the 1060 has a great phono preamp section that mates well with tubes.
I use mine for this purpose.
 
1060 has preamp out, doesn't it? Should work fine. It's three channels, though, with input crossover sending both channels' bass to center. Looks like about 4 watts single-ended to left and right, 12-15 watts push-pull to center.

If you'd like a copy of the Sams service info it'll cost you a donation to the Antique Wireless Museum (where I'd get it)... I have about 8 file drawers of Sams folders, but not this one.
 
or configure it like the original console did with a center woofer and mid/tweets left and right. Kind of a 2.1 system at that point. Without that center channel though its not going to have any bottom end.

Yes it is possible, your 1060 would act as a Pre-Amp sending audio signals (phono, tuner, tape etc) to an Amplifier which in turn amplifiers the signal and forwards that to your speakers.

The way you would do that is (see pic) is via the "PRE OUT" connected to the amp.

So that is how you would do it notice I said an amplifier as it would work with any power amplifier however in your case where are you going to connect it to the Motorola?

Do you plan on using the Motorola as a stand alone amp or is it going back into the console?
