Found a Motorola SK107 console on local CL today for $50.00 that is in really great condition. First Motorola for me. Listed in the Motorola 1963 catalog and from what I can see so far the chassis and tube date stamps are all around the mid-1962 timeframe. Catalog states SK107 is a 3 amplifier stereo high-fidelity, Vibrasonic system. 3 separate speaker systems with one 10", two 6" and two 3" speakers - all of the speakers are "Motorola Golden Voice". Amp chassis is a HS-1049, preamp chassis is a HS-1051, AM/FM tuner chassis is a HS-1043 with a multiplex HS-996AA chassis. Phono is a "Golden Stereo 1000 Automatic Record Changer" with an "aluminum feather trac tone arm" and "diamond and sapphire styli for 33/45 and 78 records.
Haven't gone thru it all yet but a quick check showed the HS-1049 amp chassis has all "Motorola" tubes except for the 5U4GB which is a Sylvania. The two 6V6GTs are Tung-Sols, the two EL-84s are Mullards (Blackburn) and the 12AX7A is also a Mullard (Blackburn). Mullards are all B253 (Blackburn, 3rd week of May 1962).
Gentlemen I got it from said his parents bought it new in 1963 and really didn't use it much. He had all of the original paperwork with it too.
Will probably be a while before I get to it for an electronics refresh but I'm looking forward to giving it a good listen. Like I said earlier, first Motorola for me.
