Mountains To Climb; One A Day

King's Peak, the highest point in Utah at 13, 528 feet. Located in the High Uintas Wilderness Area.

Been to the top of Kings during the summer of 86. I lived just south of the Uintah mountains from 84-87. My favorite range as I has the chance to explore them as a young man.

Mount Washington, New Hampshire in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. While not the most interesting looking mountain, it is a formidable peak with extreme weather conditions that can change rapidly. It set the highest wind speed record not including tropical cyclones at 231 MPH. It is the highest Northeastern peak in the U.S. at 6,288 feet. In 2004, a temperature of -43 F with 87 MPH winds occurred making the wind chill -102 F. Seasonal average of snow is 280". In 1968-69 566" of snow fell there. Since 1849, 150 people have died hiking the mountain.

Only very minor cliff climbing here in Tx. I meant my days with activity "like that" is pretty much over for me, too many knee accidents. The last time I was on a cliff, I heard the belayer(didn't know him) ask somebody, "Hey, dooood, hey man, I'm I doin this right bro?" I felt a body freeze coming on.
The first death of a schoolmate was a climbing fall, a lesson that stuck in my mind. Gravity is a constant.
