Movie rentals back in the day

Telecolor 3007

I love old stuff
Back in the day people used to rent movies or other things with moving images.
The video home system didn't started with V.H.S. and LaserDiscs. It started with cinefilms. People who had projectors rented films. 16 m.m. and later 8 m.m. Or 9.5 ones... yes, this was an intresting format; with side perforations it could automatic do title stop for a few seconds, thus saving film. Proably this kind of movie rentals where not common,
so most people rented video cassettes, LaserDiscs or D.V.D. When did you made video rentals? What formats? Could you rented music or documentaries? In Romania there was "Hollywood Music and Film". You could only rented movies. Probably there where some music renting, but because of piracy I never seen such rental services. There where some other companies, including small shops that rented video cassettes. I rented a few in the '000's, not many. For my point of intrest I didn't find many movies. I did rented "Flashdance" and when that "Hollywood..." shop closed (there where a few in Bucharest) I bought it.
