Hi everyone,
I am sending my old beloved Pioneer PL-A35 to a friend in Europe.
Fortunately, my deck features the built-in multi-voltage transformer (100V-240V selector), so adapting to European voltage is already covered. However, it currently has the native US 60Hz motor pulley installed, meaning it will run too slow on Europe's 50Hz grid.
An external AC frequency regenerator is not really an option because it's an extra unwanted box/wring/etc and costs nearly as the turntable itself, so I am looking to source a physical 50Hz replacement motor pulley.
Based on my research, the 50Hz pulley from any of the following early-70s Pioneer 2.0mm shaft models will be a perfect drop-in match:
• Pioneer PL-A35 / PL-A30
• Pioneer PL-12D / PL-12D II / PL-12E / PL-12A / basically any PL-12
• Pioneer PL-14 / PL-15D / PL-15R
Does anyone happen to have a scrap "parts unit" deck from this era sitting on a shelf with a 50Hz pulley they’d be willing to part with?
I'm located in the SF Bay Area if anyone is local, but happy to pay for shipping/postage for just the pulley if someone has one in a junk drawer.
Thanks in advance for any help or leads!
