Moving to Ireland from Canada

Hi

I have an Akai AM 2450 amp, AT 2450 tuner and Technics SL 230 turntable

Will I be able to use them in Ireland where the voltage is 230v 50 Hz. Is there a switch inside that will change the voltage settings?

The turntable works in 50-60 Hz at 110 volts.

I found the circuit diagram for the amp and there seems to be a switch. Is that possible?

From your schematic, just a matter of changing the rating and position of a fuse.

I moved to the UK from Canada around the start of the century, and kept various pieces of gear. Any that isn't switchable or multivoltage I run through a step-down transformer.

A transformer should work for the turntable -- assuming it isn't internally switchable or multivoltage; I haven't checked -- and 230 should be no problem.

If there's a setting for craic, just set it to about 90 or so.

I have a few piece's of equipment I brought in from the US. It all works no problem with a step-up transformer ( Get a good meaty one ).......And............

Ist takes more than a voltage change for most turntables when going from 60 to 50 cycles. Usually involves a pulley change to get the platter to spin at the correct speed.

Aren't Technics turntables of that era all electronic speed control and DC motors, rather than AC synchronous motors that are dependent on line frequency?
