+1 on the Dell DJ. They don't make them anymore, however, you can usually find the 20GB DJ's new-in-the-box on "Fleabay" for $50-$99, and it's a good deal because these were like $250-$275 new originally, and the sound-quality is by far the best of any mp3-player I've ever heard. I've had mine for a few years now, and I absolutely-love it. They have a real-deal, high-quality hard drive and a very-simple interface. No video, Wi-Fi, or anything like that to mess up the sound. Audio only. It's a great-sounding, meat-and-potatoes mp3-player that will last for years and years (My brother has like 5 of them and not one of them has ever quit on him - On the other hand, he's had 2 iPods, and BOTH of them died on him). It's a great mp3-player for audiophiles too. Great battery too. Long-lasting. And it charges fast (I can get a 3/4 charge on mine in like 45 minutes, which has helped me many a time when I was in a hurry and had forgotten to charge it)
The 20GB 2nd-generation version seems to be the most-popular one (There was also a 30GB version, but I've never owned one, so can't say anything about it). And don't worry about not getting a warranty... As I said, these things are very-well-built and will last a long, long time. I've yet to hear from someone who had a bad one (My brother still has his 1st-generation model from like 10 years ago, and he and his wife have it playing in their kitchen all the time hooked up to computer speakers - He's not an audiophile at all, and yet he swears by the thing). I use my Grado SR80i headphones with mine, and it sounds awesome. I think the simple interface and the lack of video and other bells and whistles is why this thing sounds so-good. I use mine all the time and I love it. I load it with high-quality vinyl-rips mostly (that I've converted to 265kbps-320kbps mp3).
