MQ 101 questions

bought a pair of ML-1C's that were said to have been recapped, but did not come with an eq. the speakers sounded fine to me but I was keeping my eyes out for an eq. not too long after, I ended up buying an amp from someone who had an MQ-101 laying around not being used in his place. he threw it in for 100 bucks with the amp (it has a wood case as well, not perfect but in decent shape). I only saw that it powered up and the lights came on, didn't listen. after plugging it in and listening at home, 1 channel seems to be playing lower than the other. any ideas on what the problem might be? or how to trouble shoot to narrow it down?

Make sure all the controls have been cleaned thoroughly and the RCA connectors polished and the tube the RCA pin slides into is tight. If you place the speakers at ear height against a wall I would set the bass control on the middle control for a start. I preferred Mac speakers with the hf control turned down one click, but that's just me when I was 45 years younger. The upper mid control I normally left alone. But some times analog recordings could be a little muffled and a click up could help. I much preferred the MG104 and 107. But you used an analyzer to adjust them correctly and then left them alone.
