MS-300 music server IR

I am running the MS-300 thru my MX-120 processor. My question is can I control the MS-300 via a 1/8" stereo mini plug from the back of the MX-120? I tried going from the sum data port on the MX-120 out to the IR in port on the MS-300 and it did not work. I also tried putting it in the DATA IN port - no luck. I want to avoid putting an IR bug on the front glass panel of the MS-300.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What input are you using on your MX120 for the MS300? That input's Data Out jack needs to be connected to data in on the MS. Every input has a dedicated Data Out jack. Outs to ins.

Thanks,

I have the MS-300 connected to the SAT input on the MX-120. One end of the 1/8" mini plug is plugged into the MX-120s SAT - DATA OUT port and the other is connected to the MS-300s DATA IN port.

When you select Sat on the MX120 your MX120 remote will operate some of the functions of the MS300. You must have Sat selected for this to work.

Will hooking it up this way allow me to turn on the MS-300 via IR as well?

If not, what is the prefered way to go about this. I would like to be able to turn on my MC352 amp, MX120 processor and MS-300 music server with one push of the remote and then control the musi server via the MX-120s IR.

Turning source components on and off with your MX120 is accomplished by running a Power Control connection from the MX120 ACC Power Control outputs to the Power Control Input of your MS300. If you have other McIntosh source components you will run them daisy chained, power control in and out to the next unit all off the ACC Power Control output jack of your MX120.

thanks,
Ron-C

I am using that method to turn the amps on. By daisy chaining to the MS-300 would this turn the music server on every time I turned on the processor?

Leave your amps as-is off the A-zone Power Control out. Use ACC Power Control out for source components.

Thanks,
Ron-C
