For Sale we have a pair of stacked Dahlquist DQ-10s! That's right 4 Dahlquist DQ-10s. These have been completely checked through and found to be in perfect shape! The woofers on all 4 speakers have been re-foamed, and function perfectly! They are a mirrored pair. These are being sold by Midwest Speaker Repair in St. Paul, MN. Just one block south of I94 on Snelling Ave. These Dahlquists are being sold with the Intra DQR-2 Steel Stacking Mounts. Intra was the only company authorized by Dahlqusit to make the stacking Mounts. They are extremely rare, and very valuable. The 4 Dahlquist speakers that are being sold are Consecutive serial numbers with all original instructions and literature. We also have all the instructions and literature for the Intra DQR-2 stacking mounts. They are in PERFECT, LIKE NEW, CONDITION!!! These are truly one of the best sounding stereo speaker pairs we have ever heard. Look at the pictures!

Very interesting, how are they set up? Is the top pair inverted to put the mids and tweeters together and only the grills kept upright? Or are they just simply stacked with little care to coherence?

Being a former DQ-10 owner, I'm kind of curious how a stacked pair would sound.

Those stacks are in EXCELLENT shape. Hardly a mark on them. I believe they did some crossover work with them also? One would need one hell of a big room to do them justice I would think.........:scratch2:

Those are not stacked correctly, IMOHO

In my opinion, unless I'm missing something, and being the owner of EIGHT pair of the DQ-10s mirror imaged and inverted/stacked with my own stacking system, those are not correct, simple as that. Clean looking, but not quite as clean looking as how I've stacked mine, and they are stacked incorrectly---they should be inverted!!! Just my opinion.

Not necessarily Retro. A good friend has a pair of stacked dq10's wired up in parellel. I've heard them driven with a Kenwood 9600 (160 watts) with great results. The drawback is that they hover around a little less than 4ohms being wired that way. The soundstage they present though is incredible.

I guess that is a big for a reciever. They did sound quite nice though with just a reciever driving them and they didn't need to be pushed hard to get an enjoyable sound level from them. I had my dq singles driven with separates with 350 watts rms with no where near as good results as the doubles.

Just took another look at the photo of those stacked DQ-10s and I do believe they ARE actually inverted. Was in a big hurry last night and missed that, but it does appear that they are done correctly, I just have never been a big fan of those particular stands, though, and believe that what I have done to stack mine looks a lot better. Yes, eight stacked pair, powered by eight Phase Linear 400 amps, along with eight (sometimes sixteen, depending on whether I'm using them with my Klipsch Heresys or not at the time) Dahlquist DQ-1W Low Bass Modules powered by either four, or eight, Phase Linear 700B/700II amps. LOTS of headroom, AND man they sound nice, even if I hardly ever get to see the meters on the amps move much, don't need to turn them up much at all to get that "realistic" listening level.

Working on some other ideas with stacking these, including stacking them sideways, three cabinets side by side with three other cabinets, six per "channel", with the woofer enclosures on the outside and the tweeter/mid arrays facing toward the center of each stacked set of six. Yes, I may be a bit "nuts", but it IS fun.

Besides, I did start a Stacked Maggies thread. I'll post a stacked Dahlquists pic, but it's my DQM-9 (Magnat) boxes so you may be slightly dissapointed...
