Much love for my new universal remote

I've spent the last 2 months putting together a system for my new apartment. Almost everything has been from Thrift Stores or Pawn shops. Many different brands, eras and quality levels. They all have one thing in common though....... NOT A SINGLE REMOTE for any of them.

Denon DCD-1650AR: No remote: need remote to do 75% of features.

Toshiba SD-4109X DVD Changer: need remote to do 80% of features.

Integra DSP 5.5 DVD: Don't "need" remote but a DVD w/o remote is kinda useless to watch on TV.

Onkyo P-3106 Pre amp: no remote

Denon DTR-2000 DAT Recorder: no remote

I got fed up yesterday as I couldn't shuffle my new DCD-1650AR CD player without the remote. I went online and started finding OEM units.... after putting $450.00 in the shopping cart I said forget it.

I picked up a Refurbished Logitech 520 from CompUSA for $39.00 and thought I would try it out. If it would only allow me to shuffle a disc on the Denon I would be happy.

One hour later it works EVERYTHING perfectly! 2 DVD, CD, Harmon Kardon AV receiver, Denon DAT, Nakamichi CD player, Onkyo pre, Magnavox TV.

Color me impressed. I had no faith in this thing and giddy with one purchase to have remote control of ALL my remotely controlled gear.

I will no longer (not that I did before) pass on a piece of gear without a remote.

Harmony remotes are awesome! I use one with my A/V system.

Push one button, A/V amp on, set to xbox 360, TV on, set to xbox, xbox on. I even programed the #2 & #3 buttons to be the red & blue on the xbox controler for watching netflix.

I love my 520 just for the same reason as you love yours! It's just such a great tool for the HiFier
