Multi-input selector?

I was going to sell my Yamaha A1 amp and T1 tuner from the 80's, but I dusted them off and plugged them in, and forgot how fantastic they sound. So, here's my delimma. I want to get a new networked receiver that will allow me to get Pandora, SiriusXM, etc. and still use this amp/tuner/CD player, but all with a single set of JBL studio monitors.

Does anyone know where I can find an input selector, that is kind of the opposite of your standard A/B speaker selector? My search just turned up speaker selectors. I'd need it to handle a larger size speaker wire, too. I saw a mention of a Russound thing that might do what I wanted, but the comment was that the speaker terminals were tiny.

It sounds like you are looking for a source selector. It doesn't appear the A-1 has a way to bypass the internal preamp - and there are a total of only 4 inputs, 2 of which are phono and 2 of which are line level?

Your receiver should have numerous inputs which could function as a source selector. In addition, it should have at a minimum a Pre Out if you are hooking it up to the A-1 integrated, and ideally have a Line Out so you won't have two volume attenuators in the signal chain (i.e. the receiver's preamp plus the integrated amp). I don't know enough about proper gainstaging to tell you if it will be a serious issue to use a receiver's pre along with the A-1's pre, but I believe in all likelihood you should be fine if you experiment with the levels.

You can also get a separate source selector so that way your tuner/CD player won't be have to go through the receiver's preamp if there's no way to bypass it. They are pretty cheap I believe (~$15).

Since you want to use the power section of the A-1, do you really need the networked receiver? If you're looking for only the internet radio there are dedicated things for that as well... and of course, you could always get the Yamaha M-2 or M-4 and matching preamp :)

For every day listening, a networked receiver with smartphone app control just works better for me.I work from home some, and I don't want to run into the other room to turn the volume down everytime I get a call from the office. But for serious listening, I'd like to have my old equipment available too.
 
If I understand you correctly, you might be able to use something like a dbx 200 or 400 Route Selector.

I've had both. You can daisy-chain a number of things into a single channel and by push of button, choose what you want to engage.

The biggest difference between the 200 and 400 is the 400 has a plug which powers the lights on the unit. The unit works PERFECTLY FINE even if you do NOT plug it in. The only purpose for the power cord is to power the lights, not to make the unit 'work'.

The 200 is essentially the same thing but, without the lights.
