Multiple Infinity owners ?

7.62

Infinity nutcase.
i know many of you have multiple sets of Infinity's. What do you do them ? Do you rotate them in and out when your taste change ?

Here I have an opportunity to trade an Amp I'm not using for a pair of original RSII's. I don't need them but the hoarder in me says DO IT !

So if you dont mind, share with me what you do, second system ? Rotate ? Collect ? Holding for potential other trades ?

I'm not really into rotating, but I do have four different systems in my house (master bedroom, living room, playroom/game room, and theater). All but the living room are surround systems. That's a lot of speakers needed.

Yes trade for theRSII s you will not regret it!! Use them as your main speakers!!

Reread the OP. He wants to trade an amp he currently owns that he's not using, to get someone else's RSIIs.

Infinity addiction, GO FOR IT! Lol
I have My epsilons and Kappa 9's in a finished room in the basement, the speakers are along side each other, they are hooked up to the same preamp, each have their own amps so I just flick the switch on the amp dedicated to the speaker I want to listen to.

I have a 5.1 surround system in the living room with 2 infinity rs 2000.6's, 4 infinity rs 2000.3's

I have another 5.1 surround system in a med bedroom with 2 infinity primus 363's,1 primus center speaker, 2 primus p153's

I also use infinity rs 5001's for the sound on a cpu

Had in the past, IRS Sigmas, MTS Preludes, Ren90's, Ren80's, another pair of Kappa 9's, Kappa 8, 7, 6, overture 3's,1's, 3 pairs of il 40's

Whenever I see a good deal on some used infinity's I maker room for them Lol

It is an addiction...Lol. I was just talking to my wife about the trade, I'm lucky she sure loves me :).

The thing with the RSII's, they were the first Infinity speaker I bought and brought into the house, my introduction so to speak. But they didn't have the original woofers and I eventually traded them off because they were to expensive at the time on eBay to replace.

Now their practically falling in my lap with the original bullet cone woofers. And I have the power to run them.

When my BIL leaves I do get the third bedroom to make into my dream Audio room, guess they could sit in there along side the QLS-1's and we could switch from time to time.

The RSII is a superb refined speaker that you may find to your liking more the the QLS-1.

If they are in good shape and not too much $$ I say go for it, wasn't there a saying... he who dies with the most speakers wins.

sonofa.....

really? sheeit.

you should NOT get them, and you should tell me who you aren't getting them from.:bigok:

I remember in the late 80s and early 90s as infinity speakers was a quality brand but fairly expensive. I listened to a fisher boom box for years until home theater came out. I bought my first decent pair of infinitys the RS 2000.6.. I listened to those mainly for movies but found out they sound great for music also. I wanted a bit more so I bought some Kappa 9s, 8.1s, Alpha 50s , reference 3s and 2 other brands. All are being used except for the 3s as they need a rebuild.

I own RSII, RSIIb, RS2.5, Infinitesimal 0.1x2 and 0.3, Ref.4, Quantum4, Quantum2 (still working on those...), and The QLS1. We have 3 systems in the house and one in the garage. When ever I see them, price is right and I have $ I buy them. If I had to keep only one pair it would be the QLS1...not even close imho.

The RSII is a great speaker and has no failing midranges or impossible to find drivers. The foot print is quite large but they have a style that never goes out of style so they look nice in the house. If I found another pair close by, they were cheap and languishing on cl for weeks I would buy them but I am a crazy person.

RSII, RSIIIB, RS5B, RS6B, Reference Series Sixes (2 pair), SM112, R-S 5, and many smaller book shelf and center channel units.
Living room 5.1 surround system= Reference series Sixes for mains, (xmas time RS-5 get subbed in due to size limitations), R-s 1 for rears, CC3 center.
I use a 4 speaker/2 amp selector in the cave: Audioplex AT-4, and I can usually play any of the first four sets listed and 2 different amps at a push of a button.

I got my RSII last fall, WOW. big upgrade. If they showed up again for reasonable $$, I'd have TWO PAIRS. go get them.........

my 2 cents Stu

I am a crazy person.

Amen Brother  Amen.

Right now I have the QLS-1's in the living room, Quatum 5's in the office "no system", Cerwin Vega D3's out on the back porch, with Sony Bluetooth AVR, that's going to my daughter, and some roll your own 2 ways I built with a Dayton 10 inch sub in the bedroom that's fantastic for our lazy pig out and veg days.

Rvito,
That is one hell of a line up !!! I can only imagine with your downstream components what the experience must be like:music:.
And post 308 to boot :D !

What's the price of admission, I'll bring the fine Cigars and Drink of your choice for a chance to hear what you have !

Wow !

Kappa 9 in the basement powered by a Parasound HCA-1205A
Composition Prelude P-FR in the family room powered by a McIntosh MC240
Composition Overture 1 in the BR powered by a Fisher 500C

Beautiful music everywhere I sit...

Column II's as the main's in the livingroom for my theater, such as it is, and a couple of Infinitesimal's hanging out in the garage for when I want tunes out there.
My son thought I'd need a sub when I first got my 'theater' set up. After he heard the Column's he said "I see what you mean Dad. You're right, you don't need a sub."

I switch out my mains about every 2 years. They were 4.5's, Genesis APM1's, VMPS FF-1 and now listening to my RS1A's. Sold the VMPSs. I actually consider the Genesis an offshoot of the Infinity as it was designed when Arnie was with Genesis. Sold my 4.5's a few years back. That was a dipshit moment.

I have a set of Kappa 7.1 II and RS5's. Don't use those unless I have people over that want to hear different speaks of different sizes.

Would buy some 4.5s again and after listening to some Infinity Crescendo 3009s I'd buy those too!

The Cresendo series is probably one of the best underrated or unknown speaker values out there IMHO. The 3009 is a superb speaker. I sold mine and I regret it now also.

Well sadly  I'm not going to do the trade for the RSII's, I really explained what the original woofers looked like but the guy didn't get it. They need work, the 4 bullet cone woofers have been replaced with something from Infinty but there not even close, rear grills and foams are gone. I promised the wife no major projects, especially if it involved spending money. Sourcing those woofers is a waiting game and expensive.
