Multiple Turntable Switch Box

Hate to wake up an old subject but am wondering how, if I used a switchbox for two turntables, would I handle the grounding? Would the switchbox need to have a ground wire coming out of the output side or would you have to ground the table separately?
 
On my Marantz 4270 I used an old Radio Shack aux switch box. Thought it would cause a hum. Grounded two turntables to the receiver. Good to go.

Thank you, that makes sense. I was hoping to find a switch particular to turntables that would have a single ground coming out of it. But it's probably no problem to ground the TT's separately, just more wires.
 
Here in the UK I have an "HQ 3 way audio switch". 3 RCA inputs into one output with a rotary switch. It measures at only 30pF but with my lowest value cable for the output being 38pF, that's an additional 68pF on top that messes up the sound of my main cart, the Shure M44. Makes me regret having the amp's (super nice) phono stage set to 250pF specifically for the Shure, because now hooking up my other turntable as a second is unthinkable with what would be close to 500pF. Unless I solder in new interconnects for that table.

So.. the "HQ 3 way audio switch" is good if you can control the capacitance. Instead I'm looking at an external phono stage but lack funds for the while, because it needs to match what I've got on the amp, which is very, very good.
 
I would think using a external phono preamp for each turntable that converts their output to line level, then on to a line level input on the switch box then on to the receiver or preamp would address the concerns and SQ effects about the undesired additional capacitance from added cables and the switch box at phono signal levels output.

Granted this method would involve the expense of the purchase of a quality active phono preamp and additional RCA cables for each TT that is desired to be able to be switch selected, but converting the TT`s output to line level close to the TT would reduce the need for a HQ phono quality L/R nX1 switch box.

I don`t use TTs and play LPs anymore, but this would be the method I would choose, if I desired to easily switch multiple turntables.

On my shop Marantz 4141 has a phono I use for my 1219. Bought a DAK preamp for two turntables off Bartertown for $20. Has a fader for two more turntables with a sliders for volume. Also have a 3 way tape monitor box for a cassette. CDR, and Bluetooth. Gives me 6 inputs! All from stuff in parts drawers!
